"It's all about the money, baby..."

This is (unfortunately) a world dictator that we have had to deal with for some time now, but now have to dealt with this horrific, monster of a human being that heads a nuclear power and in a word... "poorly"!  We have given this insane, maniacal despot credibility, stature in the rest of the civilized world, helping his dictatorial rule to continue. We have normalized dictators like him allowing them to function in a supposed civilized world, ignoring him and other barbaric despots to rule in their countries and around the world.  We have helped to elevate China's economic and political stature in the world and so we have done the same with Russia.  We have helped nurture and create the monsters that live among us and wreak their destruction of humanity and the world we share.

PrBen and Jerrys ice creamobably go no where but I went out immediately after hearing about the Israeli government wanting to file an international suit against Ben & Jerry's parent (a private firm) for not renewing their contract to continue to sell to Israel and bought some Ben & Jerry's!  How about international law taking a much more serious look at the more recent actions of the Israeli government?  

 

The answer to the question with regards to the COVID-19 pandemic is, "not a damn thing!" Nothing has changed publicly in regards to the virus, any current treatment, immunization or proven new treatment or medication. So why is the world (and in particular the United States) beginning to open it's businesses for business as usual?  Well again, that's easy, it's money and the acquisition of it.  Instead of finding ways to sustain the masses without subjecting the populous to the spread and horrors of a disease that has yet to be contained we will put those, the most vulnerable at risk so the few, the least vulnerable can acquire and build their already obscene fortunes even more!

Nothing has changed yet folks! But let's not act responsibly nor even civilized. Let's be utter greedy bastards, which brings up and whole slew of issues about our society, cultures, religions and you name it!

You don't even have to scratch the surface of the current political regime in Hungary to see that what is happening there is another chapter in the ugly history of modern Europe!  We can not allow this kind of fascism to be normalized or accepted. The EU must continue to take resonable yet the strongest of actions against its member that has taken a bad turn and is seemingly repeating an ugly history.

 

Acting more like North Korea than South Korea...

 

The new book, Capital in the Twenty First Centuryby Thomas Piketty is being talked about in economic cirles as a must read.  I haven't read it as of yet, but will soon.

What is happening with regards to U.S. intervention in Syria?  We hear very little but I assume, hope, wonder what if anything is being done behind the big red, white and blue curtain.  Today the International Red Cross was given permission to enter the battered city of Homs. What information might come out of that city in the coming days?

What is shown to be happening there is, well quite frankly can anyone say it is not a crime against humanity?  If the people of Syria are happy with a King, Emperor, Dictator or even a democratically elected head of state - well goodie.  But to kill your own people to quash dessent is an atrocity.
